Dear Joan,

I couldn’t send the money today, all the banks were closed because of President’s Day.

I went to the dentist today. He said if you went to a regular dentist for a root canal, it would cost between $75-$100. A professional dentist charges between 100-150 (this is Ohio, though!) This $100 probably has to go to more important things now, but don’t let it go for too long.

Do you remember a bank called “Northern Ohio Savings?” It folded the other day. Pretty bad, eh? It seems that people were taking their money out because of the recession scare & people hadn’t paid their debts & loans back. National City Bank took over.

I’m sure you heard the news about the man who went to court for selling cocaine. The only eyewitness was a girl. They went out in the hall, got married, and the case was thrown out of court. Isn’t that crazy?

Just thought I’d give you a little news.

You will have to excuse my elaborate stationary & handwriting to me, it’s getting late.

I am sending you the money this morn.

Thanks for the last letter.

Take care.

Love,
Judy

P.S. - a good song,

“I Believe When I Fall In Love With You, It Will Be Forever.”

Sergio Mendez does it + Stevie Wonder, too.

(From “Talking Book,” good album)

I got 12 red roses from Lou for Valentine’s Day. Isn’t that nice? (I’m not bragging.)

I was going to send you a money order, but no time to get to the bank. (Check w/ letter.)
