Dear Joan,

This is your terrible little sister. I am real sorry I didn’t at least send you a card on your birthday, but I did call you. I hope you don’t hate me - but I promise I will make it nice. Finances are not good at present (if you know what I mean). But your belated gift will be on it’s way soon. Happy “23.” Mother went up to Toronto to Louise’s funeral. She died on “Mother’s Day” and they’ve been friends for 57 years. Do you believe it? Otherwise, everything is good. Am in the process of packing to move. I think next week. There was a delay because of rain.. It’s so cold at night (30s) - in May? How are you - and your love life? I will try to call you soon - or call if you get an urge.
