Notes from The Playerβs collection
It has been said by some that the only thing you have to earn in life is love - everything else you can steal. Finding this attitude convenient, I have stolen the contents of this book in order to earn a bit of love. I must confess, however, that I have failed miserably. Without meaning to I have injected the tale with traces of originality.
This development has occurred in spite of my wholehearted attempts to prevent it. In fact, it seems that the harder I try to stop this damnable originality the more it oozes out of me. I am therefore obliged to ask your forgiveness for my lack of self-control and it is my hope that in being forewarned you will be able to ignore the mental lapses when and where they occur and that they will not spoil your enjoyment of the tale.
Vindicated or not, this little book is not to be read nearly so much as one must read into it.
So, with endless trust in your understanding and complete faith in your indulgence, I leave you to enter a familiar world.
