D.D. [Diane]

What a woeful position this is! I'm being held incommunicado here in Mex. I'm not even sure if or when you'll receive this missive. I'm in quite a bind here, and I'm hoping you can do a few things for me.

I'll go ahead and list the things that need doing. Get ahold of Kelly at - she has a key to my apt & ask her if she'll go over & pack my belongings. Ask her to put them in storage for me. If this isn't done, I'm afraid I'll lose everything. (Even though there's really not much it's all I have.) Also ask her to write me since I don't have her address & I'll write to her directly. Tell Kelly that she should keep my address book & other personal papers at her place as it's possible I'll need some info contained in them.

Your vacuum is also still there and maybe you should go over & get that.

I also have no way of getting in touch w/ Joan. I think she's still in Cleve. but I'm not sure. Anway, in my spare bedroom there are a couple of cartons that were sent by her mother. The return address is on the boxes. If I could get that info, I could write to her in care of her mother. They are always in touch. If Joan is in town, & is in contact w/ you, you could tell her that she can take care of packing my things. She can keep everything she might want for herself.

You'll have to pardon the disjointed manner in which I'm writing this letter but my train of through is really fucked - much like my life at this point, I'm afraid.

I could use a couple of pairs of pants (blue jeans, cords - nothing fancy.) Some undershorts, a couple of shirts, & my suede jacket. I have only 1 pair of jeans my others mysteriously disappeared so have whoever takes care of packing my things keep a few things aside for me. Also some reading material, especially the Glory & the Dream. Part II by Wm. Manchester.

Underneath the bottom drawer in the kitchen is a package that should be removed.

I would like you to get ahold of Joe at xxx xxx-xxxx (use my credit card) xxx-xxxx-xxxx & tell him of my situation. Ask him if it would be possible to get someone down to see me. Tell him I have some important info to pass on to him.

My next request is a call to Wash D.C. I think the no is xxx-xxxx, but just in case I'm mistaken, it's listed under Herman Dingle. Ask for Dennis. Tell him it would be to his benefit if he would come & see me. There's no heat so tell him not to worry.

If you get hold of Joan, tell her to check w/ my bank and see if there's enough money in my checking account for plane fare & expenses for a visit here. If not ask her to get a hold of Tommy at xxx-xxxx. He owes me some money and maybe she could get it from him for her expenses. In fact, if she can get any money from him tell her to use it to get an apartment for herself. I'll worry about a visit later, the most important thing is that she be taken care of.

If Joan isn't available, get ahold of Tommy xxx-xxxx. Tell him to keep up the payments on my car if he'd like to keep it. If not he should get in touch w/ Wally xxx-xxxx and make the necessary arrangements. If he doesn't want it maybe you'd like to hang onto it. The payments rare only $148.01 a month. Anyway, whatever the decision make sure someone contacts Wally regarding the car.

I've listed most of the important things that have to be taken care of. I hope you don't mind too much my putting this burden on you. I'm sure you know how much I'm counting on you to handle these matters. Knowing how efficient you are I imagine you'll be able to handle these small tasks while holding Zurich, N.Y., London, Paris, & Podunk Ind. on other lines.

One other thing my sweet, call Janet xxx-xxxx & ask her if Victor or any of her attorney friends know any contacts in Hermosillo. I haven't been able to speak to anyone regarding my case & from what I gather having someone to represent you in court is a prime requisite in garnering any sort of favorable results. I'm mainly interested in having the Mex Gov't turn me over to the Am. Gov't. If I can't get that done, I'm afraid I'll have to serve a sentence (anywhere from 2-12 years) here , and then have to face 2 more years in the states on a parole violation. The 2 yrs in the states don't faze me much, it's the years of lonely desperation I'll be facing here.

If I were rich or even moderately wealthy I would be able to make some sort arrangements here as I'm sure fixing things here wouldn't take more than 6 or 8 thousand.

It's possible that I could get the money from Joe or Dennis in Wash. so be sure to contact them. Well my dear, that's about all for now. My next task is to find a  way to smuggle this letter out of here, have it put in an envelope, get a stamp, & have it mailed. Doesn't sound like much to you i'm sure but to me it’s a formidable task.

I love you,

Sonny

Keep on keepin' on.

PS. I'm going to send a letter to Joan in care of you. Please try to see she gets it.

From the indications I get I should be sent to another place in the next few days. Here is the address #

//

Have moved to the penitentiary but although I'm able to write, now I can't get any stamps since the store is out of them. Maybe tomorrow! Here at the penitentiary the situation is a little different. There is a volleyball court, 2 basketball courts, a ball diamond, and what is laughingly referred to as a tennis court. Therefore, incl. the clothes I asked you to have sent, I would also like to have sent my tennis shoes, a tennis racquet, my cut off blue jeans, & my bathing suit. (One thing there is an abundance of is sun.) I've spoken to a lawyer here at last & things look pretty bleak. He's contacted Joe McGirr for me & from what I understand someone will be coming down from the states to visit me sometime this week. I would still appreciate your taking time t do the few things I asked. Tell Joe that I am not writing to him directly because I don't have his address. Also tell Tommy that I'm in the process of writing him a letter. Ask him to send me some money via an international money order as I'm practically out of money & without money, you don't eat down here.

Tell anyone that may come down for a visit that we are only allowed relatives for visits so they should be sure to say that I'm a cousin.

That's it for now my dear. Give my regards to all.

Love you,

Sonny
