Dear Joan,

Have we reached the end of our relationship? This is the fourth letter I've written you without a reply. Sometimes I wonder if our over-protective friend Dianne is allowing you to see my missives. I'm almost positive that, if you could see my pending letters, you would at least write to reassure me of your friendship. I'm going through the darkest period of my life, and seem to have been deserted by everyone. Actually, that's not entirely true, but you seem to be the only one that counts.

I got a letter from Joe last week. He told me he had spoken to you. Just the mere mention of you made my loneliness grow to unbearable proportions. There are so many things that I want to say to you, but I'm so scared that I'll never have the chance. Please write so that a little light will come shining back into my life. One word from you will mean the world to me.

As I said before I'm not sure that you're getting the letters I send, so in the event I don't hear from you in a couple weeks I'll try to reach you through other means. I keep hoping that I'll hear my name called for a visit and that you'll be standing there with that incredible smile that I miss so much.

Ah Joanie, if you only knew how much I love you...

Sonny
